Overwatch Means Eye Candy for Anime Fans

If you use any form of social media, you’ve probably been bombarded with gaming news today. That’s because the highly anticipated multi-player first person shooter Overwatch released today on PS4, XboxOne, and PC.

Overwatch is Blizzard’s first new IP in seventeen years. Blizzard is also responsible for favorites like World of Warcraft, Diablo, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone.

But why should any of this concern an anime fan? Well, Blizzard has a tendency to weave a great story into their gameplay and they’ve done it again with Overwatch. Overwatch’s characters have awesome backstories detailed through comics hosted on their website and original animated short films which you can find on YouTube.

The short films all play out a little differently but feature great combat sequences and peeks into the lives of the colorful cast of characters you can play in Overwatch, much like an episode from your favorite action anime.

With so much canon fodder (get it?), it’s no wonder that Overwatch has spawned so many passionate fans who have been creating fan art for the entire cast since the game’s original reveals.

If you’re into another kind of media hype, perhaps you’re more a Game of Thrones kind of person. If so, for some reason Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) played Overwatch with Conan. And they put the video on YouTube

I’m not good at FPS either, especially on console which is my HOME. But on PC I can kind of sort of manage with a mouse and keyboard. I think I’ll wait until the game goes on sale. I think I can probably at least get $20 of playtime out of it just for the lovely cast of characters. It is just SO. VISUALLY. APPEALING!

I’ve heard so much about Overwatch but I’m no good at FPS, so I probably won’t play it. Looks like fun, though.

Have you ever dreamed in anime?

I'm not talking about dreaming of cos-players, I mean full fledged drawn or computer generated anime as the art medium in your dream. I have been doing a marathon of tons of series this year. Old new, bad good, I have just been hungry for content. So much so, that apparently it has entered my subconscious.

Liam's First Look at Myriad Colors Phantom World!

Myriad Colors Phantom World is perfect for those who love fantasy in a modern setting.

Haruhiko Ichijo and Mai Kawakami are not like the average high school students at Haseo Academy. They are some of the few living people with the ability to fight the Phantoms.

Haruhiko, a klutzy bookworm, has the power to trap Phantoms in his drawings. His teammate Mai is very athletic and is able to beat them into submission. Due to their spontaneous attitudes and lack of planning, they are the worst rated team in the Phantom Hunting Club. To make up for their sometimes destructive behavior, they have to defeat even more Phantoms than the other club members.

Liam's thoughts on Erased Anime Episode 1

I just finished the first episode of Aniplex’s Erased and I have to say I may be hooked!

Satoru Fujinuma is a struggling pizza delivery boy and manga artist haunted by childhood guilt. Initially painted as a bit of a shut in, the main character goes through a somewhat literal transformation in the first episode.

The show begins by following Satoru on a seemingly average day. Though there was a murder, no less than two lives were saved!
